Sub Domain Tracking
If you are looking to track a sub domain of the primary domain - in which case you will have to customize the tracking code to track across the domain and the sub domain and this customized tracking code will need to go on both the domain and the sub domain.
Here's an example of the customization that needs to go within the async code you are using -

_gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-12345-1']);
_gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'example.com']);
_gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

As mentioned if you click the option one domain and it's multiple subdomains under Profile Settings, you should be able to see this code.
